Our Under 12's travelled to West Hartlepool where we were met by some familiar faces and plenty of unfamiliar.
Four of the five teams we were due to play we had not come against before, this meant that we didn't know who their fast runners were, where their strengths and weaknesses were, and for once as coaches we could offer no insight into our opponents play. The message to the players was, "play hard, play fair and win or lose we come away with our heads held high", and for five matches our players did just that.
The physicality and mental prowess shown, from all players new to the team and those long standing members was clear to see, for 70 minutes they gave everything!
As coaches we couldn't have been prouder, echoes of congratulations from parents and those spectating of each tackle, ruck and maul was astounding. Bodies were put on the line at each opportunity to ensure that the team benefitted whether this was a last-ditch tackle into the side-line or whether it was a driving maul to score that last minute try.
This team has grown game on game this season and was very evident in the emotions shown that they want to win, a draw is not good enough, leaders every one of them, they strive for more.
We are excited to see where this team will go from here, they have every opportunity to shine and next season will see them transition into Junior Rugby.
To finish the season off we travel to Durham to play in an invitational festival and then Darlington to play in our finale as Under 12's.
