Today was one of the highlights of the season as our U10’s attended the Newcastle Falcons U10 Festival at Kingston Park. We had a fantastic turnout, thank you to everyone who made the journey north.

We started the day with an impeccable minutes silence on this Remembrance Sunday, followed by some very competitive games against Penrith, Percy Park, Morpeth, Gateshead, Tynedale, Gosforth and Darlington. Most of these are clubs we don’t play regularly. They were tough opponents but our teams acquitted themselves very well, to grind out some good performances and results.

There were some very strong teams at this event, but our players coped well with the physical pressure and challenge. Our teams showed great character, discipline, and teamwork and really represented Bishop Auckland very well at this fantastic event.

This was also a great social event as many of our team stayed back to watch the Falcons win their game to top off a very enjoyable day.

Players of the week.

Harry Wigmore. Harry played with great determination all morning, making some good tackles and some great runs forward with the ball. His teamwork and support play was very good and made a fantastic contribution to his team. Well played Harry.

Jacob Robinson. Some fantastic tackling again from Jacob, which really put pressure on the opposition. Jacob’s ball carrying was also very effective, and scored some fine tries for his team. Well done Jacob.

Abie Bannister. Some fine running and footwork from Abie to speed past his opponents. Some very determined tackling and some good tries were scored in a great performance. Good work Abie.

Henry Burns. Some good surges forwards and very direct ball carrying from Henry. He was alert to capitalise on some mistakes by the opposition to regain possession and put his team in good positions, and scored a couple of great tries. Well played Henry.

Don’t forget indoor training at 6pm on Wednesday. Next weekend we are away at Horden & Peterlee.
