Darlington Girls 22 v Bishop Auckland Girls 41

Having lost against Darlington in the cup the week previous, we focused on the areas where we didn’t do so well in mid-week training. Focus was around our defensive ruck, and playing an expansive game to play to our strengths.

We got to Darlington with 11 players and Tammy was leant to us to create a 12-a-side game. Tammy played really well for us and was a credit to her club.

The girls started really strongly, were fantastic going forward and impressive in defence. On a big pitch with lots of space, the girls supported each other, were dominant around the ruck despite being the smaller team, and made some impressive tackles.
Darlington started the second half really strongly scoring a couple of tries, but contrary to what happened the week before where Darlington went on to dominate and win the game, the girls showed huge resilience, not letting their heads go down, and took the game back to our opponents to finish the game much stronger.

So many fantastic performances to be really proud of from Sienna, Mia, Bayley, Molly, Tori, Amelia 'Sonic' D, Amelia R, Martha, Lilian, Esme and Carmen, but Amelia R pipped them to player of the match, scoring and making some amazing tackles. She also won so much ball at the breakdown turning defence into attack.

Tori was awarded best forward and Amelia D best back by our opposition.

A really strong performance by all girls, and a very proud coaching team.
