The Braves put in a strong performance today against a really good Consett side. Due to good numbers (2 reinforcements from Darlington), we enlarged the pitch and played 14 a side giving the girls more game time.
Martha and Sienna volunteered to play for Consett in the first half and put in great performances, never letting their new teammates down.
The first half was quite even with some great go forward, support and Tori, Chimmy and Amelia being strong and dominant around the ruck. Isla was making some strong tackles, and looking to pass in attack. Callen and India played for the visitors in the second half and never let them down.
Energy and commitment seemed to rise in the second half and we really got a grip of the game, all of the girls playing their part. We still have work to do on our tackling/defence, but the commitment and effort was there for everyone to see.
Amelia was all over pitch causing problems for our opposition, and was great at protecting our ball.
Tori, Martha, and Amelia were all in the mix for Brave of the Match, but Chimmy pipped it for her strength, commitment and determination, particularly in the tackle and ruck. She was immense today!
The girls loved the contest today, and were rightly proud of themselves at the final whistle.
