Bishop Braves 26 - 31 Hartlepool OB U14 Girls

U14’s girls, the first match of the season at home against Hartlepool Old Boys.

With what seemed like the longest preseason ever behind us, the Braves took to the pitch a little nervous, but full of determination.

We were a little short on numbers, but OB helped us out with 4 players initially to get the game on.
We started really brightly against a large physical side, but some great play around the ruck saw Martha sprint clear to score our first try of the season under the posts, Amelia D converted.
We had lots of possession, and were holding our own at the breakdown. But Hartlepool scored the next two tries.

There was some fantastic go-forward by Sienna and Bayley, making some hard yards, and when Amelia R, Lilian and Esme got some space they made some great ground up the pitch. Tori was at her rampaging best in both defence and attack, and Molly put a great tackle in before going off injured.
Amelia D got our next two tries with her trademark runs, the defence not being able to cope with her pace and change of direction. She had to take a minute after the second one to catch her breath!
There were then tries scored by both teams as defences started to tire, but Amelia R ran strongly through a number of tackles to score under the posts.

Joint players of the match were Amelia D for her amazing runs, and Martha for her fantastic defence - she covered so much ground today to make some unbelievable tackles.

A fantastic performance by all which Chris and I were so proud of - hard work pays off, well done all!
