Bishop Auckland U9’s Vs Hartlepool U9’s

A great team performance!

After several cancellations due to flooding and a frozen pitch we finally got to play this additional fixture against Hartlepool RFC.

Once again we had superb numbers, many more than our guests, so to even out game time JC ran a tackling master class in the skill zone. This was really beneficial and paid dividends as our team’s tackling noticeably improved and grew in confidence during the morning. This extra coaching helped and refined their tackling technique which was essential for the challenges Hartlepool threw at our teams.

During the matches our teams attacking skills and discipline were very effective. Our quick distribution from the breakdown received high praise from the Hartlepool coaches who were impressed with our speed of attack which unleashed our ball carriers time and time again. Some fantastic tries were scored off multiple phases by our players. The teamwork and discipline to keep recycling the ball and keep attacking was very good.

Well done to all our players. This was a very good performance from everyone, the team spirit and the skill level of all the players improves each week.

Players of the week.

Hylton Millward Brearley. Some great leadership from Hylton who was organising his team in attack and particularly defence. There were some excellent runs forward with the ball but it was Hylton’s passing game that really impressed making some crucial passes to put teammates into space or scoring opportunities. Well done Hylton.

Oscar Thompson. Oscar played very well today. His tackling technique and aggression was very effective against the Hartlepool attack often forcing them back. In attack he scored some terrific tries. One outstanding effort he took half of the Hartlepool team over the line with him! Great effort Oscar.

Caleb Dixon. Caleb played very well today. He’s got fabulous pace and played mostly out wide scoring some great tries and supporting his teammates very well. In defence he defended the wide channel really well and made some great dominant tackles. Well played Caleb.

Henry Burns. Henry ran some great surges forwards with the ball in hand. He was doing the hard yards, taking the contact, setting up attacking opportunities, and taking the ball deep into the opposition defence. He finished some great team and individual tries and in defence made some fantastic tackles. Well done Henry.

All in all, a fantastic performance from everyone. The team photo at the end sums up a great performance and really shows the team spirit.

Next week it’s Blaydon away. Please confirm availability to Gemma.

Thank you for your continued support.
