The Bishop Auckland / Durham City U16 Girls delivered another outstanding performance today, this time against a strong Barbarian Select side made up of players from four different teams.
It was impossible to miss the buzz, the smiles, and the genuine pride coming off the pitch, a true reflection of the performance the girls had just put in.
Darcy led the team superbly as captain, setting the tone with her leadership and composure.
A huge congratulations to Marianne, who scored her first ever try, a brilliant milestone moment, alongside a debut U16 try from Abi, absolutely buzzing!
Alana also produced one of the moments of the match with a huge tackle that summed up the team’s bravery and commitment.
It was also a special day for Emma and Niamh, who both played their very first games of rugby, throwing themselves into everything and showing exactly why this group is such a fantastic place to start and grow in the game.
What stood out just as much as the rugby was the connection between the Bishop Auckland and Durham City girls. The teamwork, encouragement, and support for one another was constant, and that carried through long after the final whistle.
The girls stayed together to the very end, celebrating in the clubhouse, smiling, laughing, and clearly loving being part of this team. That sense of belonging and togetherness is something really special and a huge credit to everyone involved.
A massive thank you to all the parents, supporters, coaches, the opposition and the referee for creating such a positive and welcoming environment for the girls to play and enjoy their rugby.
Results matter far less than confidence, connection, and enjoyment at this stage and today delivered all three in abundance.
I honestly don’t think I could have been prouder of this group.
This team is building something special.
