Billingham were our visitors on Sunday 15th March, and were keen to avenge their loss at home in what was a close game.
Both teams started well in what was a physical game, but played in the right spirit.
It was a real forward battle, with the packs evenly matched. Billingham were more efficient at the breakdown, and their ability to jackle, turning ball over, and their strength out wide shaded the game in their favour.
Tries were traded between the sides with Riley H, Isaac and Olly S-L scoring fine tries for Bishop with Oliver J slotting over each conversion.
Our set pieces went really well, and our scrums received praise from the Billingham coaches. But we need to be quicker to the breakdown and protect our ball better if we are to bridge the gap.
Lots of effort, it was a real battle out there against a really good side.
Forward of the match went to Thomas Henderson who provides the glue in our pack, and does alot of the unseen graft.
Back of the Match went to Ben Shaw who continues to improve in defence and put some solid tackles in.
A game that showed the lads what the coaches have always been telling them.....win the breakdown, you win the match!
