It’s been a tough few weeks for the U13’s due to disruption with training and rescheduling matches, so everyone was excited to get stuck back in to a match….on Grass!!!!

The Barmy Army U13’s were welcomed to Peterlee / Horden on Sunday and avoided the pending downfall of rain to allow for decent (if not blustery) match.

As with most of our games recently, the lads have been faced with some big opposition when it comes to size. But this only demonstrates Bishop’s confidence in the tackling when it’s most needed.

The match started strong for Bishop with a try scored by Leo within 5 mins of the whistle being blown. Blake pulled a fantastic break away run to the try line shortly after, only for it to be disallowed by the ref (to the dismay of the Bishop spectators…and Blake).

Horden then managed to find their form and racked up 5 try’s in the first half, picking holes in the Bishop defence and passing down the line with good effect.

The second half of the match started strong with new determination from Bishop, Ollie was the first to score a try and then closely followed by Archie. Bishop dug deep in the second half and matched the skill of Horden for the remainder of the game.

Archie was able to score a second try with a powerful run through the opposition (great job for his second game since joining).

The U13’s have welcomed a few new players this season and it was fantastic to see them on the pitch, working hard alongside their team and being supported by the experienced players.

John won man of the match for his strong runs as a forward, taking the game to a much bigger opposition.
