A tough afternoon for our U12’s today against a strong and physical Jarrovians side, who came out on top 10 tries to 1.
Credit to Jarrovians, who played with plenty of intensity and used their physical strengths well throughout the game. We found ourselves under pressure too often and were unable to build enough momentum of our own.
Before the game, our focus was on scanning the pitch, attacking space, moving defenders around, and working hard for each other in defence. While we did not manage to deliver that consistently enough, the game gave us some very clear lessons about what is needed when facing a big, aggressive side.
To the boys’ credit, there were still moments where they kept competing, and these are the types of games that can help young players grow if they are prepared to learn from them. As a group, we know we need to be braver, sharper, and more connected, and that will be our focus as we head into the final part of the season.
Rugby is not just about the easy days or the wins. It is also about resilience, teamwork, and responding positively when things are tough, and this group will be better for that experience.
If your son is in Year 7 and would like to give rugby a go, Bishop Auckland RUFC is a brilliant place to start. We provide a supportive, team-first environment where boys can make friends, build confidence, and develop their game together.
