After a long break over Christmas, and some sessions cancelled due to inclement weather, the girls put on a great exhibition of attacking rugby at home against Westrovians.
With our 12 girls boosted by 5 from Darlington, we decided to play on a larger pitch with 14 a side. This was to get them used to playing on a bigger pitch next season in U14’s.
Huge thanks to Tori, Amelia and Isla who played part of the game for our visitors and had strong games.
We were a little rusty after our break, but there was some fantastic effort from all, and we were particularly strong in our attacking ruck and go forward. There was lots of support, and communication got better as the game went on.
We've been working on our counter/defensive ruck in training and in parts this looked good as we stole ball from our opponents, we'll work on this more over coming weeks.
Autumn had a great game on debut and there were some lovely tries scored.
Sienna was Brave of the Match with her strong runs, often taking 3 or 4 defenders to stop her, but she also offloaded well in contact. She made many metres up the pitch which created a platform for others to score, a true team player.
Lots of positives against strong opposition, but we loved being back on the pitch at home!
