BARUFC U12 Girls at Darlington Festival

Jacqui Teasdale26 Mar - 18:14

Came up a little short

Our Bishop U12 girls travelled to Blackwell Meadows to take part in the Darlington festival.

Our girls played two matches...our first versus Darlington. We started slowly and our girls soon realised that when we committed to the ruck we kept our ball and we were able to build on a platform to make some scores and we made some great scores.

Our second game was against Guisborough /Billingham who have been improving massively in recent weeks and at times really showed our girls how to play ..finding the edge and finishing well.

Our girls responded well and committed to the rucks, passed really well and ran really hard. At times we saw our talent shine through with some true team perfomances and some individual brilliance.

It was a close game but we came up a little short in the end.

All players contributed well to an overall successful two matches but my player of the day was Autumn...I said to the girls at the end huddle over chips and chocolate cake... that tries are great and important but it’s the hard work as a team that allows us to score those tries.

Autumn tackled, rucked, communicated, chased down balls, dived on loose balls, ran supporting lines when players got through and asked other players "what can we do better?" .. this is why Autumn was my player of the day.
