Barnard Castle RUFC IIXV 31 – BARUFC IIXV 45

Jacqui Teasdale7 Sep - 15:40

Dominant game to end preseason!

BARUFC IIXV delivered a dominant first-half performance that saw them carve up Barnard Castle with a series of well-worked tries. Slick handling, aggressive carries, and smart support lines which gave our lads a commanding lead heading into the break.

The second half was a different beast. Barnard Castle, had 10 substitutes and threw everything at the game in a spirited comeback attempt. Focussing their game around a very agile 5 & 6 combination. Bishop had a couple of injuries and limited substitutes and had to dig deep to hold their ground playing up hill.

Despite the hosts’ late surge, BARUFC’s early dominance and sheer determination secured a convincing 45–31 win away from home.

Forward of the Match: Kieron McGurk – a relentless engine, dominant in contact and crucial in the tight exchanges.
Backs Man of the Match: James Holliday – masterful control from both 9 and 10, dictating tempo and unlocking space with precision.

Huge thanks to the travelling supporters who made the journey — your backing means everything to the lads and was felt throughout the match.

With pre-season now officially over the Twos look forward to their first league fixture next Saturday at Home against Hartlepool Rovers.
