Just WOW!

There was lots of talk and focus in the last few training sessions around our passing and retention of possession at the ruck. We asked the team to turn up, focus on the first whistle, visualise what they had to do individually and collectively, and show some passion and reason. They certainly didn't disappoint! The whole squad were amazing today.

We were completely dominant from the start to finish, and some of the team play was a joy to watch. Horden just couldn't live with us, we never took a step backwards and our support play was awesome! We scored 15 tries to nil, Horden just didn't get a look in as we realised today that rugby is a team game and the squad played together.

There were a number of amazing tries today, scored in a variety of ways. Strong determined running, good hands and putting players into space, and through lovely trickery and weaving runs. Too many players had great games to mention all, but Riley Guy pipped many other contenders to MOM for his dummy passes, great feet and acceleration, and intelligent kicking. To top it all, in the second half after an amazing run, and with a two-on-one, he drew the full back, and gave a simple, unselfish pass to Eliot to score. Something we have been covering in training which summed up a great team performance.

Sometimes we've been guilty of making games more complicated than they are, and resorting to wanting to take all on individually and coming unstuck. But today they played for each other, and celebrated creating tries for each other. We’re finally moving away from school playground rugby and managing a game better. The coaches were made up today, we saw glimpses of just how good this set of players can be.

Well done lads!!
